on the street.

http://altamiranyc.blogspot.com/2011/04/anna-schilling-fusion-ny-animal-print.html

This is undoubtedly "a lot of look". But if this cape is wrong, I don't wanna be right. The leopard print cape is awesome. And I really like how this girl (model Anna Schilling) didn't just go for sex bomb with this outfit. She made it funky and her own. And really, I never met a pair of high-waisted I didn't like. Especially with a crisp with button-down. I'm not in love with the boots with this, but whatever.

Anyways, this photograph comes from the site Altamira: Models Off Duty, which I am now addicted to. I have been pouring through the content for hours. There is some great inspiration in the archives.

Here are some of my favorites!

aurel schmidt.

Today was the busiest I've been in weeks. Though I still have time to blog! It is like when I do nothing all day I can't even find the motivation to blog, but when I go out and actually see living creatures besides my dogs, I feel like I can do anything!

Back to things that are actually interesting...

When trolling the internet for something thoroughly time wasting, I found the drawings of Aurel Schmidt. Lies. I found a picture of Aurel Schmidt and thought she looked like a kookier version of Chloe Sevigny, and my interest was peaked. So I looked her up and apparently she is this New York scenester. Who happens to be an awesome artist, in my humble opinion (I accidentally wrote onion the first time. Wow.).

Anyways her drawings are really intricate, yet someone they have a great texture to them. Many of them have a sort of sinister look to them, in the vein of the Chesire Cat. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about her shapes coming from objects (cigarette teeth, flower eyes, etc.). On one hand I think it is really cool how it is different up close. On the other, I feel like that is a little over done, and at this point, a little gimmicky. I don't know, what do you think? What would Cher think?

the opposite of summer.

When I saw this collection on Wildfox, I thought "Awesome! Bad girl chic!". And then I thought, "Yeah...black wool? Not exactly the light, flowy layers of summer." You know, I spent all this time longing for sun and the warmth of summer, and now, I'm thinking about wintery clothing.

Preach, Mick Jagger, preach.

Anyways, I thought I'd share my favorite pieces from Porter Grey.

funny people.

So I literally just finished watching this video of comedic television actresses (Teri Hatcher, Amy Poehler, Kaley Cuoco, Lea Michele, Jenna Fischer, and Julie Bowen (who went to my high school)) doing a round table and I enjoyed it so much I wanted to share it immediately. I thought all the women had really interesting things to say about the industry and about being funny, especially Amy Poehler's comments about the question of 'women in comedy'.

The clip is about an hour so it is a little bit of a time investment, but it is totally worth it because it is so chock full of funny, touching, and really inspiring stories. Ok, now I'm just gushing. Just watch it.

trees, swayin' in the summer breeze.

I'm pretty much unabashedly into the whole 70s thing (c/o Wildfox). I love Dazed and Confused. Sue me.

Also saw the new X-Men and it was actually pretty great. I mean I'm biased because I'm basically in love with James McAvoy, but I really liked Michael Fassbender as well. Their chemistry was great. And it was really refreshing to see a bubbly, slightly mischevious side to Jennifer Lawrence.

beautiful trash.

Apparently this was on a Starbucks download or something and the people on youtube are getting all huffy about it. Whatever, I just heard it on Aurgasm and thought it was fun. Sue me.

let's leave zooey deschanel out of this one.

So I'm not sure about this one. Yes, the kids are adorable. But I feel like it is a little weird that they are singing a song by the Smiths. They don't quite tap into the bleakness that Morrissey expressed. And yet everyone can relate to the desire to finally be fulfilled. And it is a lot more harmonically malleable than "I Can't Get No (Satisfaction)" (don't get me wrong, I like the Stones just fine). The arrangement, in fact, is beautiful.

I really got nowhere in that argument with myself, so, tell me, what do you think?

461. That's how many blog posts I had to catch up on tonight. Seriously what have I been doing with my time? Oh yeah, having a life. After spending some time with one of my favorite chicas, Mayrah, I went down to D.C. to see my mom. And now I am back so posts should be more frequent. Hopefully.

You should totally check out the vintage photos the Sartorialist has been posting, they are fantastic.

Also, the Sox (over here we like the red ones) are in first place over The Dreaded (as my dad calls the Yankees). Yes!!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Summer is here!

Dance for joy! Or because you enjoy looking like a fool!

brielle mcclain.

I am back form the dead! Finals are over and it is now summer! Or it is supposed to be. Right now it is about 50 degrees and rainy. Blast.

Anyways, my friend Mayrah is staying with me this week and has introduced me to Brielle McClain, who is a photography from Oregon. I'm pretty sure that Mayrah even knows Brielle, which is awesome because I like her photography a lot. Her colors particularly stand out to me. She has a pretty diverse portfolio of portraits, weddings, and life in general. Hope you enjoy!
